A Missouri Lottery player made a quick pit stop on his way to work and walked out a winner.

"I realized that I had like nine miles to empty in my tank, so I stopped at the first place I saw,” he explained. “I tried to buy one ticket but they were out. So, I just went with the ticket right next to it.” 

That ticket choice turned out to be very lucky. The “50X” Scratchers ticket he purchased at Casey’s, 4800 S. Rangeline Road in Joplin, held one of the game’s $100,000 top prizes.

“It was amazing! I’m going to save for a vacation and holidays and pay off some old debt,” he said.

To date, players have won more than $10.5 million in prizes playing the $5 “50X” Scratchers game, with more than $5.6 million in prizes yet to be claimed – including three additional $100,000 top prizes.

In FY25, Newton County players won more than $6 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $595,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $10.6 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
